“Yes, we are withdrawing, and I personally believe that is the best message to send to the Iraqis. That they need to know that they have to get serious.”

“Senator Obama says he wants all combat troops out within 16 months of his inauguration and you haven't offered a specific end date. Why shouldn't voters worry that your position could turn into an open-ended commitment?”

“The debate after the election of 2006 was whether we were going to have timetables for withdrawal or not. Your answer should have been no.”

“Senator McCain has said over and over again that you supported a timetable for a phased withdrawal from Iraq. Is that true?”

“'Bush and Maliki need to set up a number of timetables and milestones but that these should not be announced to the world because we dont want them (the terrorists) just lying in the weeds and waiting for us to leave.' What did you mean by that statement?”

“Do you agree with Senator McCain's statement that the United States might need to have U.S. troops in Iraq for as long as even 100 years?”
